Gov. Ron DeSantis

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (pictured) has announced the details of the state's Phase One of reopening.

Under the plan, each local government is supposed to create its own plan for dealing with short-term rentals - and specifically banning visitors from COVID-19 "hotspots".

Okaloosa County (Fort Walton Beach, Destin - with 80% of lodging in short-term rentals) and Walton County require that vacation rental reservations of visitors from NY, NJ, CT and LA be for periods longer than the current quarantine period established by the Governor (now 14 days)..

Santa Rosa County (Navarre, Pensacola Beach) and Escambia County (Pensacola, Perdido Key) ban short-term rentals to persons from all states having 700 or more cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents as of 15 May - NY, NJ, CT, LA DE, IL, MA, RI, Washington DC - along with all international visitors.
