On 6 September 2019 NZ carrier Air Chathams began scheduled weekly service on a 1090-km route between Auckland and Norfolk Island. There's no competition on this route.

The Allison Prop Jet Convair (Convair 580) was originally manufactured by Convair as CV340 or CV440, then converted to prop-jet power by Allison Division of GM. It carries a crew of 2 or 3 and up to 56 passengers.
