Canadian Grand Prix

Reports from Montreal indicate that cancellation of the Canadian Grand Prix for the second year in a row is now "only a formality" after Montreal health officials have said the race should not go ahead, with or without spectators.

The Canadian GP had been scheduled for 13 June at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

Although QC Tourism Minister Caroline Proulx says she's awaiting official word from federal public health officials, and the Formula 1 organization is remaining silent, cancellation of the event is believed to be a done deal.

The contract with organizers of the Canadian race remains in place to 2029, at least for now.

Turkey's Istanbul Park course has been suggested as a replacement for the Montreal event.

Stay tuned for further updates.
