Posted 13 December 2017:

UK Brexit Secretary David Davis seems to have said or implied that the deal reached last week regarding the post-Brexit status and border of Northern Ireland might not be legally binding.

Mr. Davis later clarified this - sort of - saying:

"Of course it’s legally enforceable under the withdrawal agreement but even if that didn’t happen for some reason, if something went wrong, we would still be seeking to provide a frictionless invisible border with Ireland.”

And Ireland Taoiseach Dr. Leo Varadkar said:

" To the nationalist people in Northern Ireland, I want to assure you that we have protected your interests throughout these negotiations..."

Everyone in the tourism industry on the Island of Ireland is watching this situation closely, and I don't blame them - there will be many opportunities for something to go wrong between now and 29 March 2019.
