The UK Home Office has felt a need to reassure EU citizens living in the UK about this because of a leaked draft of a post-Brexit immigration policy document containing proposals for deterring immigration of lesser-skilled individuals from the EU.

If Mrs. May still wants a "hard Brexit", this is a step in that direction.

But unfortunately for the tourism and hospitality industries, a BHA survey has found that 85% of UK waitstaff and 25% of chefs and housekeepers are among those "lesser-skilled" EU citizens working in the UK.

Mrs. May's government is about to shoot itself in the foot here.
