A new study by ForwardKeys in collaboration with COTRI finds that customized tour itineraries are gaining in popularity among tourists outbound from China, with bookings for summer 2018 up 13.5% from a year ago.

And according to Ctrip, on average Chinese tourists spend around $400 per person per day while touring.

Regional shares of 2018 summer bookings from China so far are:

  • Asia-Pacific: 59%
  • Europe: 27%
  • Americas: 12%
  • Africa & Middle East: 2%

All regions had growth in 2018 except for the Americas (-3.3%).
