BREAKING: Proof of vaccination to be required to enter Boston restaurants, bars, gyms, entertainment venues

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced today the launch of the city's "B Together" vaccine requirement rules for certain indoor spaces.

Beginning 15 January 2022, all persons - including employees - will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to enter the following types of indoor spaces in the City of Boston:

  • Indoor dining venues, including bars and nightclubs
  • Indoor fitness facilities, including:
    • Commercial gyms and fitness centers
    • Yoga, pilates, barre and dance studios
    • Boxing and kickboxing gyms
    • Fitness boot camps
    • Indoor pools
    • Any other facilities used for conducting group fitness classes
  • Indoor entertainment venues, including:
    • Movie theaters
    • Music or concert venues
    • Commercial event and party venues
    • Museums and galleries
    • Professional sports arenas and indoor stadiums
    • Convention centers and exhibition halls
    • Performing arts theaters
    • Bowling alleys
    • Other recreational centers

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include:

  • CDC vaccination card
  • Digital image of CDC card
  • Image or print of any official immunization record
  • City-designated app containing a digital image of any official immunization record
  • Specific other COVID-19 vaccine verification apps

Timing:

  • Saturday 15 January 2022: Persons aged 12+ must show proof of one dose of vaccine.
  • Tuesday 15 February 2022: Persons aged 12+ must show proof of full vaccination.
  • Tuesday 1 March 2022: Persons aged 5-11 must show proof of one dose of vaccine.
  • Sunday 1 May 2022: Persons aged 5+ must show proof of full vaccination
