At the 16 October 2018 meeting of the Bar Harbor Town Council, councilors approved entering into a 5-year terminal facilities lease agreement with Bay Ferries Ltd.

The Cat will begin running Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, NS in spring 2019.

Portland officials say loss of the Cat will have minimal effect on tax revenues or tourism there.
