The Maine Department of Labor has announced that it will increase the number of work permits issued to 14 and 15-year-olds by 50%, and improve the efficiency of the work-permit process.

Objective is to help fill the gap in available hires for jobs - many in tourism and hospitality - that are going begging because of historically low unemployment rates in Maine (2.8% in May 2018).
