Gov. Janet Mills

Maine Gov. Janet Mills announced on Monday that restaurants in Androscoggin, Cumberland and York counties can voluntarily reopen for inside dining today. Until now, restaurants in these 3 counties could open only for outside dining, takeaway and delivery.

Restaurants in Maine's "rural" counties have been permitted to offer inside dining since 18 May.

Measures to mitigate the risk of spread of COVID-19 at restaurants include spaced tables, servers wearing face coverings, plexiglass barriers, and enhanced sanitation procedures.

Also as of today, other businesses permitted to open throughout Maine include:

  • Bars, breweries and tasting rooms for outdoors seated service
  • Gyms
  • Nail salons
  • Tattoo parlors
  • Retail establishments (restricted to 5 customers per 1000 sf, staff to wear face coverings)
