Aer Lingus

Per reports in the aviation press, troubled Irish national carrier Aer Lingus won't be taking delivery of the last 5 of the 9 Airbus A350-900 aircraft which the airline had ordered beginning in 2008.

In 2019, Aer Lingus transferred its order for the first 4 A350s to IAG sister carrier Iberia.

Aer Lingus has declined to comment on where the remaining 5 A350 aircraft from this order will be going.

The airline also has on order from Airbus 6 A321-200NX(XLR)s, 8 of which it currently has in service.

It's speculated that Aer Lingus has decided that in the immediate post-pandemic years, its transatlantic traffic will be able to be carried more profitably by the smaller, cheaper-to-operate A321, which in all-economy configuration has a capacity of 200 passengers vs. 315 for the A350.
