US Bureau of Labor Statistics

On Friday US BLS released its Employment Situation Summary for June 2019 showing:

  • Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 224,000
  • Unemployment rate little changed at 3.7%
  • Strong job gains in professional and business services (+51,000) , health care (+30,000), transportation and warehousing (+24,000).
  • Leisure and hospitality job numbers remained essentially flat. (In June? Why?)
  • Average hourly earnings increased by $0.06 to $27.90.
