CruiseMaine Coalition has announced that the Maine CDC has approved resumption of cruises to Maine by American Cruise Lines ships.

96-passenger Independence will begin a cruise visiting Maine ports only from Portland on 22 May 2021.

175-passenger American Constitution (pictured, above) will sail to Maine from Boston on 14 June.

Maine ports expected to be visited during these cruises include Bath, Boothbay Harbor, Rockland and Bar Harbor.

Passengers will have to be fully vaccinated in order to sail on these cruises.

Cruise ships capable of carrying more than 250 passengers continue to be banned from US waters until they receive a conditional sailing permit from US CDC. Because vessels of that size require a 90-day lead time to be ready to sail, it's unlikely that any large vessels will be visiting Maine ports before spring/summer 2022.
