Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act

Sen. Warren - dubbed "Pocahontas" by Pres. Trump, a reference to rumors that she once received preferential treatment on account of her alleged Native American heritage - has co-sponsored with Sen. Edward Markey Senate Bill 2628 which would override a 2016 US District Court decision - based on an earlier Supreme Court decision - that land in Taunton newly acquired by the tribe is not "sovereign" because the tribe had not been federally recognized prior to 1934.

The one remaining casino license authorized by the MA Gaming Commission - for southeastern MA - remains up for grabs since the Commission in 2016 voted against a rival proposal for a casino in Brockton.
