Wind-farm opponents variously claim the turbines kill migratory birds, destroy fishing grounds and ruin the coastal landscape for tourists.

Proponents say they're an environmentally friendlier alternative to offshore drilling.

By the way, we've heard that the project planned for Monhegan isn't a new one for the purposes of this moratorium.
