Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos

Canadian Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos has announced in a media release that effective 1 April 2022 at 12:01 AM EDT fully vaccinated travelers will no longer need to provide a pre-entry COVID-19 test result to enter Canada by air, land or water.

However:

  • Some fully-vaccinated arrivals may need to take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival if selected for mandatory random testing.
  • Unvaccinated or partially-vaccinated travelers of age 5 and above who are allowed to travel to Canada must still present a pre-arrival test result.
  • All travelers, regardless of vaccination status, are still required to make an ArriveCAN submission prior to arrival, or test on arrival and quarantine for 14 days.

Per Mr. Duclos, this regulatory change comes about as a result of Canada's high vaccination rate, availability of testing and new treatments for those infected.
