Point of difference between State and Newport seems to have to do with visibility of advertising/marketing collateral.
State says it's running ads outside the state - not running within RI - to attract out-of-state visitors.
Newport say if as much of the marketing is being done via social media as RI says, it should be more visible everywhere than it is now.
In the year ending 1 March 2018 RI will have paid $3.15M in aggregate to 3 agencies promoting tourism.
Unfortunately I could find no figures on the return from this investment. Does anyone have any useful numbers? If so, please send and we'll publish.
