US Bureau of Labor Statistics

The US economy grew in March 2022 by 431,000 nonfarm jobs - below expectations of 490,000 and well below February gains of 750,000 jobs, as inflation increased and concern grew about a possible recession

But the unemployment rate unexpectedly dropped to 3.6%

The leisure and hospitality sector gained the most jobs (112,000), followed by professional and business services (102,000) and retail trade (49,000).

Average hourly wage increased by 0.4%, as had been expected.

The number of persons out of work but who are seeking work increased by 382,000, while the number of persons who voluntarily left their jobs fell by 176,000 to 787,000.

The labor market overall became increasingly tight, with the number of unfilled jobs exceeded the number of available workers by about 5 million.
