German tour operator TUI and the Government of the Southern Aegean Region of Greece have launched a cooperative initiative named 'Rhodes Co-Lab" to test sustainability solutions on the Greek island.

It's planned that the Co-Lab will work with the local tourism industry and international partners to find and implement solutions that contribute to sustainability of tourism.

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis said:

"It is important to point out that in the United Nations sustainability goals, we do not just talk about environmental ecological sustainability, but also about social and economic sustainability. And we will work very hard to make this project a success."

The initiative will focus on sustainable growth that conserves resources and promotes the participation of local people through new job opportunities, while protecting biodiversity and the environment.
