The Maine Tourism Association has announced 18-19 May 2022 as the dates of the organization's Centennial Gala, to be held at Poland Spring Resort, previously known as Poland Spring Inn.
The Maine Publicity Bureau, of which Hiram W. Ricker - son of Poland Spring Inn owner Hiram Ricker who founded the Poland Spring Water company in 1845 - was the first president, was founded in 1922 to promote Maine as a tourist destination. The Maine Publicity Bureau later became the Maine Tourism Association.
