Opponents of the project have said the transmission line will benefit CMP and Massachusetts consumers at the expense of significant risk to Maine tourism.

One concern is that the transmission line is part of a CMP master plan that includes wind turbines proposed for the Moosehead Lake region.

CLF and the Appalachian Mountain Club have petitioned the Maine DEP to hold hearings on the project.

Let's hope for some kind of rational outcome that intelligently balances Somerset County construction jobs vs. Maine tourism.

In the meantime, I'd like to hear MOT's perspective on this...
