There are currently more than 100 Heathrow-China flights weekly, including 55 to Hong Kong, 22 to Shanghai and 20 to Beijing.

Heathrow officials hope expansion of the airport - addition of a 3rd runway - will go forward soon, permitting further increases in China connectivity.

But pollution concerns will play a big part in Heathrow's discussions with the parliamentary Transport Select Committee, being held this week.
