Go2orlando.com first launched in 1998 catering to the nearly 40 million
visitors that travel to Orlando each year. Throughout the site's history, the
purpose has remained the same: to provide information to families traveling to
Orlando about where to go and what to do while they're here. The redesign
enhances this mission by offering new content on area attractions, cruising
close to Orlando, beaches, information about area hotels including a list of
top hotels with the best pools, and new planning and search functionality.
New planning features include a tool that surveys theme park rides by age
group and height restrictions for all of Orlando's major theme parks, with
recommendations from Go2orlando.com travel gurus. Also new is a distance
calculator to help vacationers determine the distance from their hotel to
shopping or dining retailers. Go2orlando.com will continue to offer a budget
planner to help vacationers figure out what types of hotels, dining, shopping
and attractions fit into their budget.
After weathering a shaken travel industry for the past few years,
Go2orlando.com product manager Jane Eto felt the site needed a new look, new
features and new content to provide returning vacationers a fresh, new
experience on the site. "Travel to Orlando has returned strong this year
and we want to provide travelers with all of the information they need in a way
that makes planning an Orlando vacation fun and easy," she said.
To market the site, .Com Marketing, an interactive advertising agency in
Winter Park, Florida, has been retained. Marketing efforts include a focus on
search engine placement along with online media targeted at families and
Orlando travelers on sites like NickJr.com and FLAUSA.com.
For advertisers, the redesigned site features more standardized ad sizes
reaching a targeted audience of travelers seeking information to plan their
trip to Orlando -- close to 90,000 unique visitors each month. Advertisers can
