Marketing, Sales and
Tourism Experts Create Sweet, New Lesbian Travel Company
Vacations integrate volunteerism and green initiatives into large cruise
travel
SAN FRANCISCO, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sweet, a new lesbian travel company, announced
that it has selected branding, tourism, sales and communications experts to
deliver fun-filled, eco-friendly, volunteer-oriented and empowering lesbian
travel experiences.
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sweet's mission is to offer vacations
that empower and motivate guests to achieve their personal, professional and
philanthropic goals. Travel itineraries will include volunteer programs that
provide aid to under-served communities and fund-raising activities that
support non-profit groups around the world.
Sweet's first offering will be a Fall 2009 Caribbean cruise departing from
New Orleans. Before setting sail, Sweet plans a three-day land package for
guests interested in helping with Katrina Relief.
"Sweet is for women seeking meaningful and fun experiences. It's about
making life Sweet for our guests, our community and the destinations we visit,
while minimizing our impact on the environment," CEO and Founding Partner
Shannon Wentworth said. "On board, we will offer fitness, nutrition, wellness
and career development programs. On land, guests may participate in building
schools, preserving beaches and other projects that enrich the communities we
visit."
To achieve these goals, Wentworth has assembled a team of marketing, public
relations and tourism experts.
Lesbian travel and entertainment visionary, Mariah Hanson and renowned
entrepreneur Jeff Titterton joined Sweet's Board of Advisors earlier this year.
Hanson is the founder of the Club Skirts' Dinah Shore Weekend. She also sits on
the Board of Equality California and the "Women's Night" committee
for the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. Titterton is the CEO of RealJock,
Inc., a fast-growing LGBT social networking site where members connect on a
variety of wellness and lifestyle topics.
In addition to Wentworth, Sweet's executive team includes non-profit veteran
Jen Rainin, Founding Partner, as well as travel industry veterans Jennifer
Houston, Executive Vice President of Business Development; Nicoll Quinn,
Director of Travel; and Flavia Belli, Sales Manager.
Art Director Francesca Bautista is responsible for Sweet's distinctive logo,
innovative advertising campaigns and other branding and design projects.
