On April 10 in Camden, Maine, ACRO Global President/CEO David Boggs met with a delegation of local-government, private-sector and tourism representatives from Northern Ireland as part of a study tour of Maine’s creative economy. Objectives of the tour were to exchange ideas on ways to stimulate economic growth and tourism in the two regions.
Represented in the Northern Irish delegation were:
Skip Bates representing Midcoast Magnet, Alan Hinsey representing Knox/Waldo Regional Economic Development Council, and Ollie Wilder were among the Maine participants. Virginia Manuel of Manuel & Associates organized the delegation’s visit.
While in the Midcoast region, the group visited the Camden Opera House, Know Technology and Pen Bay Media in Camden; the Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville; Lyman Morse Boatbuilding in Thomaston; and the Farnsworth Museum and Harbor Square Gallery in Rockland.
ACRO Global sponsored the delegation’s lunch at the Waterfront Restaurant in Camden.
On the delegation’s return flight to Ireland, Newtownabbey Borough Council Mayor Nigel Hamilton was fortunate enough to encounter Northern Ireland First Minister Dr. Ian Paisley, and took the opportunity to brief him on the delegation’s visit to Maine.
