Posted 09 November 2017:

Hotels were 68% occupied, up 1% year-on-year.

Guesthouses and B&Bs: 40%, up 2%

Self-catering: 56%, up 4%

Hostels: 52%, up 3%

Analysts looked at the effects on lodging occupancy of season, temperature, rainfall, currency exchange rates and terrorism. They found no clear correlations except that occupancy of hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs tends to be higher in the summer, and that of self-catering accommodations is higher during school holidays.

The weak GBP should be causing more Welsh citizens to vacation in their home country, and should also be enabling Wales to gain share of international visitors vs. Eurozone Ireland. We'll be tracking that.
