Airbnb hosts in Maine have had 229K guests this summer

About 16,000 of those guests were Mainers, most of the rest came from Massachusetts and New York State.

Hosts collected around $40M in revenues.

Tough competition for hotels and B&Bs as long as short-term rental properties remain largely unregistered, unregulated and uninspected.

But on the positive side: the Airbnb properties hosted more than 200K guests from out of state, who will have patronized Maine restaurants, retailers, attractions and gas stations, and paid sales and lodging taxes.
