Niagara Falls Tourism launches domestic campaign as Canada remains off-limits to Americans

Niagara Falls Tourism launched yesterday a new ad campaign targeting Canadians, with the theme "Who is your occasion?".

Per media release:

"The campaign focuses on personal connections and safe travel; encouraging friends and family to spend time together within their bubbles...[it] features real people with no prior professional acting experience, who were unable to see one another during the pandemic."

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US-Canada land border has been closed since March. And a source in the Canadian government said in September that the border will likely remain closed until at least American Thanksgiving 26 November.

Because the incidence of COVID-19 is higher across the border in New York, most Ontario officials support keeping the border closed as long as that remains the case.

Tourism and hospitality businesses in Niagara Falls, ON have endured a summer with no Americans, and with no immediate prospect for renewed visitation from across the border.
